About
I am Thomas Henderson, a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC) and a native New Mexican who grew up in Albuquerque. My professional path began at the University of New Mexico, where I earned a B.A. in Criminology in 2000. After graduation, I worked in law enforcement before deciding to continue serving my community through the mental health field.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling from Webster University in 2007. I became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in 2016 and later earned my LPCC licensure in 2019.
Throughout my career, I have developed extensive experience in crisis intervention, trauma care, substance use, and suicide prevention. I spent several years working on suicide and crisis hotlines before transitioning into individual therapy. My background has also given me the opportunity to work with first responders, military veterans, members of the LGBTQ+ community, children, and families.
I believe therapy should be individualized to each client’s needs, experiences, and goals. My approach incorporates a variety of therapeutic methods and interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), harm reduction, play therapy, and crisis intervention techniques.
My goal is to provide a supportive, practical, and respectful environment where clients can work through challenges, build on their strengths, and create meaningful change. I enjoy working with clients both in person and through telehealth.
